Herbert Wendell Gleason was a prominent American landscape photographer, lecturer, and pioneer environmentalist who transitioned to photography in midlife after a career as a Congregational minister. Born in Malden, Massachusetts, and educated at Williams College, Gleason dedicated himself fully to professional photography in 1899. He is most
